I’m a painter currently based in Portland, Maine, and was born and raised in Maryland, with stints in Vermont and Oregon.
I’ve been drawn to painting and creating for as long as I can remember. A formative influence was the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, which I grew up visiting. The museum’s focus on ‘outsider’ artists—many of whom came to art through unconventional paths—taught me that the impulse to create is instinctive. This idea drives me: art doesn’t require formal training, only the desire to make something.
As a largely self-taught artist, I continually study the work of artists I admire, along with tutorials, books, and life drawing, to refine whatever challenge I’m working through—whether it’s color, movement, form, light, composition, etc. Each painting is a chance to explore, learn, and evolve my style.
Ultimately, I see art as a space for meditation, flow, self-exploration, and play. My paintings draw from everyday life, imagined scenes, and magical moments in time. My hope is that my art is as fun to view as it is to create. While painting is at the heart of my practice, I also dabble in other mediums including pottery, collage, jewelry-making, drawing, and animation.
